ECNALPHA = FX OPTIMA + AcmeHedge ==> SCAM

Published on November 27, 2011, by in Scams.

$300 for an Instaforex PAMM is all ACME HEDGE could come with after ripping investors off at ECN Alpha.

Why use a dubious FX broker like ECNALPHA in Panama? It’s the only way the scam could work as long as it has. AcmeHedge Live account on Myfxbook has a whooping 3200% gain within the last year. However, there is something fishy going on when ever their strategy doesn’t go as planned. AcmeHedge stated that their EA will automatically change its logic into a scalping strategy which places very large lots and aims for 1-10 pips. The average holding time is less than 60 seconds and often 0 seconds. This is Arbitrage and surely not scalping. Please see 20 of the 60+ arbitrage trades below in August 2011.

The Arbitrage Scalping Strategy prevented a Blown Account

AcmeHedge: No this has nothing to do with magicfxrobot. we do not run any arbitrage scalper here. this is just a normal scalping

<--- Graph Displays Draw-down -->

<--- Equity at 28% -->

On August 22, 2011 the account faced a period of excessive draw-down that almost blew the account. The equity went from $65,000 to as low as $17,956 which only left about 28% Equity. No trades were closed out for a total of 7 days and the losses were finally liquidated once they applied an arbitrage strategy to recover the losses. A few months before this took place a member from MyFxbook said

A 9 % loss on a single transaction with only 43 pips?

Are you sure you want to manage money??
No Hard stop loss for protection?

You are destined for much greater DD and / or margin call in the future with such risks..

Please look at the huge increase in Trading Volume to recover the previous losses.

This style of trading is exactly the same as the www.scalpingrobot.com known as the MagicRobot. The short trade duration, huge increase in trading activity, and minimal pip gains are all indications of the arbitrage strategy.

Facts:

  1. AcmeHedge uses this style of trading(arbitrage) to regain previous losses quickly and effectively.
  2. In my last blog post, I told you about the MagicRobot and how it uses two different data feeds to arbitrarily scalp on the slower data feed and how it would never work on an honest ECN broker.
  3. Broker is located/registered in Panama. Read a review on a previous FX broker in Panama Forex-Metal. The reviews are far from good.
  4. With a quick google search I came across this review. There are several 4/5 – 5/5 rating and then a 2/5 star rating that mentions a warning sign.
  5. ECN ALPHA(www.ecnalpha.com) and FX Optima (www.fxosl.com) both have identical websites, motto, deposit methods, Same Demo servers (confirmed), and the same Managed Account offering.
  6. http://ecnalpha.com/portfolio-management.html
    http://www.fxosl.com/portfolio-management.html

  7. AcmeHedge promotes ECNAlpha in November 2010 on a FX forum here as an Introducing Broker.
  8. Commission rates on the FAQ page mention.

Yes commissions are the only revenue for us. We charge 4 USD for every closed 1 standard lot.

While an Offical IB states $10 per full round here

Victorecn: ECNalpha offers minimal spreads via the MetaTrader 4 platform but charge flat $10 commission per every closed standard lot of volume.

  9. Trader (Victorecn) claims to be trading at this broker ( ECNAlpha) before the website was created.

Victorecn – Dated on Dec 1,2010 - This is Victor on behalf of Ecnalpha Limited. I’m an official IB of that company, started trading with them for more than 2 months.

However the Company/Broker/ Website Domain were not purchased until Oct 8, 2010. Therefore, it would be virtually impossible to know about this broker and especially be trading at this Broker for more than 2 months.

  10. FXOSL – Domain registration in July2010
    - http://www.whois.net/whois/fxosl.com
ECNALPHA – Domain registration in Oct 2010
    - http://www.whois.net/whois/ecnalpha.com

  11. Virtual Office -

Registered Office : Office 4, 219 Kensington High Street, Kensington, London, W8 6BD, United Kingdom.

How do I know AcmeHedge is a SCAM?

It really comes down to common sense. The arbitrage strategy that is enabled after a huge loss or an excessive drawdown period is the first indication of a red flag. These trades will never be able to be reproduced at any legitimate broker. Second, there is not a single client that has vouched for Acmehedge even after 1 year track record. Third, Acmehedge says that their strategy will work at any ECN broker however, they fail to prove these claims. There is absolutely no reason why they couldn’t open a $300 account at Pepperstone to display their results. Forth, AcmeHedge is an Introducing broker for ECNALPHA and has been since the beginning of operation. Finally,

Acmehedge and Ecnalpha are both located in Panama.

Trading foreign currencies is a challenging and potentially profitable opportunity for educated and experienced investors. However, before deciding to participate in the Forex market, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience and risk appetite. There is considerable exposure to risk in any foreign exchange transaction. Any transaction involving currencies involves risks including, but not limited to, the potential for changing political and/or economic conditions that may substantially affect the price or liquidity of a currency. Moreover, the leveraged nature of forex trading means that any market movement will have an equally proportional effect on your deposited funds. This may work against you as well as for you. The possibility exists that you could sustain a total loss of initial margin funds and your position will be liquidated and you will be responsible for any resulting losses. Investors are recommended to lower exposure to risk by employing risk-reducing strategies such as 'stop-loss' or 'limit' orders.
