How to Restart MetaTrader or Any Important Program after a Crash

Published on March 5, 2012, by in Software, Useful Tips.

Through the years of using Metatrader I’ve had this program crash for unexplained reasons. Whether I was around to notice it immediately or a few days later, it is a thing of the past. Today I came across a simple program that monitors running programs and if one of your selected programs crash for any reason, this application will automatically reopen that program.

How to use

    Down Load Here

  • Install with a double click after unzipping the folder
  • I’d recommend running the application that you would like to use this software with as you can “Select a Running Application” once you click the ADD button
  • Select the needed applications and click ” It isn’t Running” and then OK

  • The last step is to click on the Settings Tab after selecting all the needed applications and click on ” RUN RoC when Windows Starts” to ensure this software is always monitoring your important programs while you can not.

You can use this software on your VPS to reboot your programs after a systems update/restart!

ECN Vs MM: An Easy Visual Comparison

Published on February 7, 2012, by in Useful Tips.

Where does your broker limit you?

Spread Matters – StopLevel Matters – Pips Matter

What is Spread?

The difference in Bid and Ask price. It is the upfront Cost to enter your position into the free market + commission ( Fees associated with trading at an ECN Broker ).

What is Broker’s StopLevel?

This distance in pips that your Stop/Limit Orders must be away from current market price. The idea behind this limitation is to prevent you from locking in a Free trade by moving your stoploss to BE+1 after your trade moves into profit more than 1 Pip. Most brokers require your trade to be in profit by several pips before you can move your Stoploss to Breakeven + 1 pip. Another reason for this limitation is to prevent straddling price volatility similar to Spike Fading ( Million Dollar Pips strategy) and news breakouts. Therefore, many brokers require you to place your pending orders several pips away from the current market price. This limitation ( stoplevel) also prevents submitting a Takeprofit level smaller than the stoplevel value.

ForexGrowthBot and iDRAW

Published on January 19, 2012, by in Software, Useful Tips.

With the latest updates to iDRAW, we can now use trendlines to close the ForeGrowthBot positions. Why would we want to do this? The main reason is that this highly profitable EA only works by following momentum. Therefore, if the momentum burst does not continue the FGB EA will eat up your profits, but not any more.

How Forex Growth Bot Works

The FGB EA enters once a burst of momentum is confirmed and enters in the direction of the burst/spike. This strategy has proven to be successful in the long term as currency trends often continue in the same direction for long periods of time. However, there are a several months (Three to be exact) during the year where this strategy wasn’t profitable. As a result, we can manage the open positions to close the losses out sooner and catch the reversal of the momentum spike (fading the spike – similar to the strategy of Million Dollar Pips, but on a longer term agenda).

Recent Live Trades

The last two trades taken from FGB were small losses that could have been longer term gains if held longer. However, there is nothing we can do about the FGB closing these trades at a loss, but we can surely use the Signal from the EA as an indicator to trade longer term in the direction of the signal. Since, its a trend following system this is vital. Furthermore, we can use iDRAW to decrease the pips at loss and make some extra pips when the FGB does fail. Below, I’ve outlined where the Bot enters its trades ( Horizontal/Vertical Axis) and where the Bot closed the trades at a Loss ( Red X ).

Guide the Trend with Trendlines

Now, the easiest method to turn these losses into smaller losses are to use Trendline as guidance for support and resistance levels which are perfect indications of reversals. Below I’ve outlined how we can use simple trendlines to close the FGB trades early and take the other side ( reversal).

iDRAW manages Forex Growth Bot trades

Now by using iDRAW to manage the open positions from FGB we would use a M5 Timeframe since FGB opens the trades on M15 Momentum bursts. We use a trendline to trail the momentum, and if the momentum falls short of making us a profit, we catch the reversal after closing the FGB trade early. In the example above, we would use these trendlines as Trailing StopLoss function with iDRAW and then enter a Short Position for the temporary Selloff. A little secret to all the trendline traders: We don’t need to use Highs and lows, as the only vital trendline break. The market moves in waves. It goes up and what goes up must come back down. The market is extremely efficient and cleans up all the buy and sell orders along the way. Therefore, by avoiding a larger loss on all your trades use a simple trendline above and below the current momentum and profit on each wave. Now since, FGB continues to be profitable long-term, these signals are still invaluable. If the EA tells you to go LONG, do it. Use Trendlines to guide your journey.

We would use a trendline as support ( The trendline connecting the higher lows). This trendline would also be the reversal point and trailing stoploss for your Long Positions. Now since FGB normally cuts its losses rather quickly, this lower trendline would be used for your long positions opened with iDRAW. You can also use this trendline to close out the FBG if FGB didn’t already do so at the Red X. The FGB EA gave us two Buy signals within 1 day and these signals are telling us that overall momentum is long. Use these signals with your longer term analysis. We can use iDRAW to enter Long Positions at each new Wave Cycle.

How to use iDRAW to manage the open positions from Forex Growth Bot?

All you need is the magic number that is used when FGB opens a trade. With this value, iDRAW can find and manage this trade. From my research the magic number is #4826809

Misguided Americans: “THE IRA SCANDAL” ROTH vs. Traditional IRA Review

Published on December 26, 2011, by in Scams, Useful Tips.

This blog post first started out as a way to share some useful information of how to turn your IRA into a forex trading account, but along the way, I had to cross check several resources and make sure I knew what I was talking about. I discovered that many Americans do not fully understand the ultimate difference and the advantage of the ROTH IRA. Most importantly, mass media continues to misguide the American people. As a result, I’ve noticed or continue to notice that websites often have 1 purpose in mind and unfortunately it isn’t explaining both sides of the story. When we need facts, guidance, and questions answered the same redundant information continues to pop up. As a result, we either have to scroll through dozens of websites based off our generic key words or get creative with our google searches. Furthermore, getting creative normally leads to over expansion from your original topic, but in this case, the results were well worth it.

Before I can share the facts, I want you to answer a few questions and by doing so the rest of the information will make it easier for you to understand.

  • Did you (or will you) make more money at a young age or when you are older?
  • Did you make more money at your first job or after obtaining work experience?
  • Are you aware that your income tax (tax bracket) increases as you make more money?

Quite simple questions, right? And, I’m sure you know the obvious answer here. We make more money as we get older from higher education and more work experience. Now, the next question will be pretty easy as well.

  • Do you think that Taxes will ever go down?

America owes 15 Trillion dollars in debt. US DEBT CLOCK. One of the easiest methods to reduce this amount of debt is to raise taxes over your life span. As a result, there is only is only one IRA account you should consider and that is a ROTH IRA.

Word of Advice from a Professional – ROTH IRA

Misleading Advice from FOX NEWS – Traditional IRA

If you are young, PAY YOUR TAXES NOW, because

  • Your income sucks and you will be in the lowest tax bracket of your life. When you climb the corporate ladder, you will be climbing the tax bracket ladder as well. More income = Higher Taxes
  • A Roth IRA is only available when your Annual Income is less than about 110k which you may surpass when you are older. You may lose this opportunity to open a ROTH IRA
  • If you pay your taxes now, you will not pay taxes on your capital gains. This means your compounded capital gains are Tax free and you keep 100% of your profits.

Unfortunately, FoxNEWS misguides Americans by saying quite the opposite to the younger generation.

Cyber Forex EA Review

Published on December 3, 2011, by in Software, Useful Tips.

Cyber Forex EA

Cyber Forex EA was an Asian Scalper/traded roughly for 4 hours when the markets were slow. There were no Hard Take Profit or Stoploss within the backtests or within their trading history. Their Live account lasted for a few months as lot sizes and deposits were both increased in hopes of a rebound from a previous loss. These needed funds were needed to prevent the account from blowing shortly after their initial launch. It was said that their strategy had a correlation hedge if the main trade on EURUSD were to face a significant draw-down. Also their support team supposedly monitored and OK’d each signal as their approach to a New Generation of Automated Trading. There were several multi-timeframe and news filters that were suppose to prevent unnecessary risk. However, in the end (oct 2011) a $200 withdrawal was made and the account suffered its last round of losses from manual trades.

A list of their mistakes on attempt #1

  1. Only 2011 Backtests
  2. No Hard Stoploss or TakeProfit
  3. Correlation Hedging
  4. Add more funds to keep the system afloat
  5. Over Leveraged
  6. Tight Grid
  7. Compounding after a win
  8. No ClickBank/Plimus – Only Paypal with no refunds

The results were pretty good for the first 20 days, but after their first loss, we knew their system was another fluke with no stoploss and small take profit. Did they learn from their mistakes? More importantly, can we?

The Best EA Would Be Consistently Profitable

When you google the Best EA, you often find yourself looking at Grid EA’s or martingale EA’s because these EA’s can have poor or no trading logic which enables almost anyone to build one or use one and make some money. Many times these EA’s are the first ones that traders get their hands on, discuss, and share freely. Why are these EA’s so popular? As I mentioned, you don’t need to understand how to trade. You don’t need to worry about accuracy or consistency as these types of trading systems work pretty well on their own to a certain point. As a result, traders will always continue to test, try, modify, and ponder new ways to improve grid and martingale EAs. So whats the catch?

You run out of money and Margin Call

Since there are so many different variations of grids and martingale strategies available I wouldn’t be able to sum it up easily in a few bullets. What I may say about one system wouldn’t be true for another even though the theory might be similar. Consequently, the comments attached to this post would probably confuse most if I were share all the examples of failed attempts to maintain a consistently profitable EA. Why the reason for this post? Am I going to recommend an EA?

Well of course, but its not grid or martingale. I’ll never recommend a commercial EA that uses these types of strategy because I’ve seen so many fail over the past 5 years. Sure, 98% of all other EA’s fail too, so its hard to say “don’t try” when others might be making money with these strategies. If you do choose to test these strategies on our own: my advice to you is to understand how quickly your lot size can and will increase. The calculations are not 100% correct, but they’re close enough for this visual observation. *** If the EA has a 33 pip loss in one day, you will have to use the increased lot size for as many days needed to make back that amount of pips which you lost. ***

How to Martingale

  • only use 1/3 or 1/2 of your risk capital ( you may need to add more $$$ to save your account at some point )
  • find a broker that offers the highest amount of leverage possible ( this will prevent a margin call when your system needs to recover a period of draw-down by opening quite large lot sizes 2,4,8,16,32 etc. )
  • cent accounts, 0.01 minimum lot size, unlimited Maximum lot size (most brokers stop you at 50 lots just like how Las Vegas has a max Bet on their tables – It’s for the same reason)
  • take your profits out after each recovery – no doubt your system will experience a draw-down and hopefully a recovery if you follow these steps
  • trading logic is recommended – some sort of entry strategy should be used
  • don’t pay for anything – there are many free grid – martingale EA’s available
  • worse case scenario solution – what will you do if you can’t deposit extra funds in time?

These types of EA’s often attract the majority of the crowd because these trading systems often have perfectly inclined balance curves with little to no periods of decline until adverse changes in the financial market force huge sell offs without a significant retracement ( this is only true for a martingale strategy that holds and continues to add increased lotsizes while waiting for a retracement to recoup previous losses/drawdown). Basically, most of these strategies will fail from any central bank intervention, natural disaster, and especially from an another financial crisis, unless each trade includes a stoploss and waits for another signal. Worth mentioning, use with extreme caution and have an equity stopout, hedge, or lot reduction strategy in play. Now, the reason why I’m discussing such a money management strategy( martingale) is that “IF” you have a profitable strategy already, martingale could reduce daily losses and keep your equity curve raising ( as it often does).

Please revisit our blog often as we’ll share the next profitable EA worth adding to your portfolio.

Trading foreign currencies is a challenging and potentially profitable opportunity for educated and experienced investors. However, before deciding to participate in the Forex market, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience and risk appetite. There is considerable exposure to risk in any foreign exchange transaction. Any transaction involving currencies involves risks including, but not limited to, the potential for changing political and/or economic conditions that may substantially affect the price or liquidity of a currency.
